4-in-10 Say Ontario Moving in Wrong Direction

But almost a quarter think Ontario moving in right direction

Toronto, May 12th – In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 1103 Ontario voters, 4-in-10 (40%) say Ontario is currently moving in the wrong direction. Almost a quarter (22%) say Ontario is moving in the right direction, with almost a third (30%) saying Ontario is treading water, neither moving in the right nor wrong direction. (8%) say they do not know.

Respondents most likely to say Ontario is moving in the wrong direction include those aged 45-54 (43%), 55-64 (46%), earning $60,000-$80,000 (50%) or the most wealthy (47%), with some college/university (42%), a college/university degree (42%), or a post-graduate degree (41%), and supporting the PCs (58%).

Respondents most likely to say Ontario is moving in the right direction include those aged 34 or younger (28%) or 35-44 (26%), the least wealthy (40%), living in Toronto (31%), with a post-graduate degree (27%), and supporting the Liberals (55%).

“Almost twice as many people feel that Ontario is moving in the wrong direction than in the right direction. Ultimately, if the opposition parties can tap into this feeling of discontentment, it could help them in the next provincial election,” said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, President of Forum Research.
