Wynne's Concession
Has Little Effect on Liberal Outlook
PCs still tracking for a majority,
though the gap with NDP has narrowed
Toronto, June 2nd – In
a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 2349 Ontario voters,
amongst those decided and leaning, 4 in 10 (38%) say they would support the
PCs, while a similar proportion (37%) say they would support the NDP.
One-fifth (18%) say
they would support the Liberals. Few would support the Green Party (5%) or
another party (2%).
Despite close race, Ford still on pace
for majority
Projected onto seats, this result would
product a PC majority of 69 seats.
The NDP would serve as official opposition
with 49 seats, and the Liberals would secure 6 seats.
Approvals unchanged
Kathleen Wynne sees approval from one-quarter
(23%) and disapproval from two-thirds (65%), with 1 in 10 (12%) saying they do not know.
Doug Ford sees approval from one-quarter
(27%) and disapproval from more than half (55%), with one-fifth (18%) saying
they do not know.
Andrea Horwath sees approval from 4 in 10
(41%) and disapproval from a third (34%), with a quarter (25%) saying they do
not know.
Horwath seen as best premier
Andrea Horwath is seen as best premier by a
third (31%), while Doug Ford is seen as best premier by a quarter (27%).
Kathleen Wynne is see as best premier by
one-fifth (17%) tied with none (18%). 1 in 10 say they do not know.
“Kathleen Wynne's concession has not buoyed
Liberal fortunes, with support for her party mostly unchanged following the
announcement," said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, President of Forum Research.
“Doug Ford remains poised for the premier's chair, with Andrea Horwath closing in.
It's probably safe to say each of the three leaders is eager for election day,
though likely each for a different reason."
