Are Unsatisfied With Canadian Government’s Response To Opioid Addiction
Toronto, July 4th – In a random sampling of public
opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 1812 Canadian voters, almost half (BTM2:
48%) are not satisfied with the federal government’s response to opioid
addiction in Canada, with about a quarter (28%) saying they are not satisfied
at all.
Respondents who are not satisfied (BTM2) with the government’s
response to opioid addiction include males (51%), those earning $20k-$40k
(56%), the least educated (57%) and those living in Manitoba or Saskatchewan
(60%) and British Columbia (60%).
About 4 in 10 (TOP2: 37%) of respondents are satisfied with the
government’s response to opioid addiction, with only one in ten (9%) saying
they are very satisfied.
Respondents who are satisfied (TOP2) include those aged 35 to 44
(41%), those earning $60k-$80k (43%), those with a post graduate degree (46%),
those living in Alberta (40%) and Quebec (39%).
One sixth (15%) of respondents said they didn’t know how they felt
about the Federal government’s response to opioid addiction in Canada.
“About half of
Canadians are not satisfied by the response of the federal government to opioid
addiction in Canada,” said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, President of Forum Research. “Residents
of BC and Manitoba or Saskatchewan are particularly disillusioned by the Federal
response to opioids in the country.”
