Wide majority oppose sale of Lotto to private sector

TORONTO October 1st, 2014 – In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 1079 Ontario voters, seven-in-ten voters disapprove of OLG’s plan to sell the Lotto business to the private sector (70%), and as few as one sixth approve (16%). About one tenth don’t have an opinion. (13%). Approval is highest among the youngest (20%), males (22%), mid income groups ($40K to $60K - 21%), in Eastern Ontario (29%) and Southwestern Ontario (21%) and among PC voters (24%).

It's clear Ontarians don’t want, by a very wide margin, their government to divest an asset they see as a money maker," said Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne Bozinoff.
