BC Election Down to the Wire

NDP hold slight lead in popular support, but Liberals right behind

Toronto, May 8th – In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 1076 British Columbia voters, amongst those decided and leaning, on election day more than 4-in-10 (41%) say they will support the NDP, (39%) say they will support the Liberals, (17%) say they will support the Green Party, with (3%) saying they will support another party.

Green Party to hold balance of power

Based upon pre-election tracking, Forum Research projects a BC minority government with the Liberals securing 42 seats, the NDP securing 42 seats, the Green Party winning 2 seats, and 1 seat to be won by another party/independent.

"After a gruelling campaign, the result will come down to the narrowest of margins: the NDP will slightly edge the Liberals in popular vote, but not in seats, with the two parties likely to secure 42 each. The razor thin result means that Andrew Weaver's Green Party and its two seats can become kingmaker, potentially offering a majority to whichever party offers the most aligned vision for the years to come," said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, President of Forum Research.
