Bill Blair
leads in Scarborough Southwest
NDP’s incumbent Harris trails
TORONTO April
26th, 2015 - In
a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 587 voters
in the federal riding of Scarborough Southwest, where former Toronto police
chief Bill Blair has said he will run as a Liberal, Mr. Blair leads the NDP
incumbent, Dan Harris, by 8 points (42% to 34%), while a Conservative candidate
(previous contender Gavan Paranchothy’s name was used) comes in third with one
fifth of the vote (20%).
Candidate favourables are matched
Both
Blair and Harris have the approval; of more than 4-in-10 voters (44% each), and
both have very positive net favourable scores (approve minus disapprove), Blair
at +22 and Harris at +21.
"While these two candidates
are equally well liked, it appears the greater name recognition that comes
along with being Chief of Police will benefit Bill Blair in his campaign," said Forum
Research President, Dr. Lorne Bozinoff.
