The majority of Montrealers support the return of the Expos
Toronto, June 14, 2019 - In a poll of public opinion conducted by Forum Poll ™ among 1,471 Quebec voters randomly selected, 6 out of 10 (59%) would approve the return of the Expos to Montreal.
A fifth (19%) would disapprove of the Expos' return to Montreal. A similar proportion (22%) say they do not know.
Respondents most likely to support this return were those aged 45 to 54 (66%) or 55 to 64 (63%), men (66%), in favor of PLQ (66%), and PQ ( 63%) or CAQ (66%), residing in Montreal (60%), in the rest of Quebec (61%) or on the North Shore (63%) and those earning $ 250,000 a year or more ( 73%).
Respondents most likely not to support this idea are those aged 35 to 44 (21%), 45 to 54 (18%), 55 to 64 (20%) or 65 and over ( 18%), supporting QS (28%), in Quebec City (23%), winning between $ 40,000 and $ 60,000 (21%), between $ 60,000 and $ 80,000 (18%), between 80,000 and 100,000 $ (19%), between $ 100,000 and $ 250,000 (18%) or $ 250,000 or more (18%).
4 out of 10 would go to see the Expos in person
4 out of 10 (TOP2: 42%) say they would probably attend (24%) or most likely (18%) attend a match in person.

le gouvernement dépensait des fonds pour ramener le baseball à Montréal.
Les répondants les plus susceptibles de désapprouver sont ceux âgés de
34 ans et moins (61%), ou de 35 à 44 ans (64%), favorables au QS (69%), vivant
à Québec (71%), les plus riches (72%), et ceux qui désapprouveraient si les
Expos revenaient à Montréal (93%).
Un quart (25%) approuveraient.
Les répondants les plus susceptibles d’approuver sont les 45-54 ans
(29%), les 55-64 ans (26%), les 65 ans et plus (27%), les hommes (29%),
favorables au PLQ (30%) ou au PQ (30%), résidant à Montréal (30%), et ceux qui
approuveraient le retour des Expos à Montréal (40%).
Un sixième (16%) sont sans avis.
Même ceux qui appuient le retour des
Expos à Montréal sont divisés concernant la dépense de fonds publics. Parmi
ceux qui approuvent le retour des Expos seulement 40% seraient d’accord avec
l’utilisation de fonds publics; en revanche 44% n’approuverait pas de cette
dépense pour le retour des Expos.
Les
Québécois sont également susceptibles de suivre d'autres équipes sportives
existantes et d'être intéressés par le NBA ou les ligues majeures de baseball
venant dans la province
Parmi les personnes interrogées, 7 sur 10 (69%) ont déclaré qu'elles
seraient susceptibles de suivre (à l'exception des Canadiens et du hockey) les
Alouettes (14%), l'Impact (22%), une future équipe de baseball des ligues
majeures (21%). ) ou une future équipe de basket NBA (12%).
