Just Over Half Say
They Were Aware of PC Convention
The plurality unmoved by the
"People's guarantee"
Toronto, December 7th
– In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 861 Ontario
voters, more than half (TOP2: 54%) say they are at least somewhat aware of the
Ontario Progressive Conservative policy convention, with one-sixth (17%) saying they are very aware of
the Ontario, while just over a third (37%) say they are somewhat aware.
4 in 10 (BTM2: 42%)
had little to no awareness of the convention, with a quarter (26%) saying they
are not very aware, while another one-sixth (16%) say they are not at all
aware.
Few (4%) said they
did not know.
Plurality say the "people's
guarantee" won't change their vote
More than 4 in 10 (44%) say they are neither
more likely, nor less likely to vote for Patrick Brown in response to his
promise that he will not seek a second term as premier if he fails to meet his
five major campaign commitments.
Just under 2 in 10 (TOP2: 19%) say they are
at least somewhat more likely to vote for Patrick Brown's Progressive
Conservatives, while a quarter (BTM2: 26%) say they are at least somewhat less
likely to vote Progress Conservative in response to the people's guarantee.
Respondents most likely to have their leaning
unchanged include those aged 35-44 (51%), the highest earners making
$60-$80,000 (47%), $80-$100,000 (48%), or the most wealthy (50%), with a post
graduate degree (54%), living in Toronto (51%), and supporting the NDP.
Respondents most likely to say that they
would be more likely to vote for Patrick Brown's PCs include those aged 45-54
(23%) or 65+ (21%), the least wealthy (28%) or earning $80-$100,000 (27%), with
a college/university degree (24%),
living in the 905 (21%) or Southwestern Ontario (24%), and supporting
the PCs (34%).
Only one in ten Liberal (11%) or NDP (9%)
voter said this policy would make them more likely to vote for Patrick Brown.
Respondents most likely to say that they
would be less likely to vote for Patrick Brown's PCs include those aged 55-64
(32%) or 65+ (29%), those earning $20-$40,000 (27%) or $40-$60,000 (29%), the
least educated (30%) or with some college/university (29%), living in Eastern
Ontario (30%), or the 905 (32%), and supporting the Ontario Liberals (38%).
2 in 10 (21%) self-identified PC voters said
that this policy would make them less likely to vote for Patrick Brown.
“Just over half said they were aware of the
Ontario Progressive Conservatives’ policy convention,” said

commitment, what he calls the "people's guarantee", did not change a
lot of minds about his party."
