Liberals Gain Traction In Québec
Toronto, September 4th, 2019 – In a
random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among Québec voters, 4 in 10 (37%)
say they would vote for the Liberals in a
Federal election, up 7 points since July (July 29: 30%).
One-fifth (21%) say they would support the Conservatives,
down 7 points in the same time period (July 29: 28%).
One-fifth (18%) say they would support the BQ.
1 in 10 say they would support the Green Party (9%)
or the NDP (8%).
Few say they would support the PPC (4%) or
another party (3%).
Respondents most likely to say they support the
Liberals include those aged 65+ (44%), females (40%), Montrealers (44%),
English speakers (50%), and the least wealthy (42%).
Respondents most likely to say they support the Conservatives include males
(27%), living in Québec City (29%) or South Shore (26%), and the most wealthy
(30%),
“The Liberals have opened up a big lead over their Conservative
opponents in Québec,” said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff,
President of Forum Research. “The Liberals look like they’re on an upward
trajectory heading into the election, but as we saw in 2015, a lot can happen during a campaign. So whether this
lead holds, remains to be seen.”
