NDP, Liberals split progressive vote

TORONTO AUGUST 6th- In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 709 voters in the federal riding of Eglinton-Lawrence, more than 4-in-10 will vote for Finance Minister Joe Oliver (41%), followed by about one third who will vote for the Liberal candidate, Marco Mendicino (34%) and one fifth will support an NDP candidate (the previous candidate’s name was used - 20%). Oliver’s support is common to mid age groups (45 to 54 - 46%), males (44%) and mid income groups ($60K to $80K - 63%).

“The Finance Minister looks very comfortable in his riding, and that’s because the NDP, without even a nominated candidate, achieves one fifth of the vote. If this is extrapolated across the country, the Conservatives may be in safer territory than we think," said Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne Bozinoff.
