NDP Thought Best on Education, Environment, Tied on Healthcare

Liberals tied with PCs on Economy and Infrastructure

Toronto, May 17th – In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 1057 Nova Scotia voters, 3-in-10 (30%) say that if elected, the Liberals would be best for the economy, statistically tied with the Progressive Conservatives (29%). The NDP is well back with (17%). A quarter (24%) say they are unsure.

Worth noting is that only about half (56%) of NDP supporters think that their party is the best for the economy. Both, Liberal and Conservative supporters display more confidence with nearly 8-in-10 (78%, and 77% respectively) suggesting that their party is best for economy.

NDP most environmentally friendly

Almost a third (30%) say that the NDP, if elected, would be best for the environment. Fewer than 2 in 10 say either the Liberals (18%) or PCs (17%) would be best for the environment. More than a third (35%) say they are unsure.

Only about half of Liberal and Conservative supporters think that their party is best for environment (50%, and 45% respectively). NDP supporters are more confident, with 7-in-10 suggesting that their party is best on this issue (71%).

NDP and PCs tied on Healthcare

Almost 3-in-10 (28%) say the NDP, if elected, would be best for healthcare, a virtual tie with the Progressive Conservatives (27%). Just under a quarter (22%) say the Liberals would be best for healthcare. More than 2-in-10 (22%) say they are unsure.

Worth noting is that Liberal supporters report the lowest confidence in their party to be best on healthcare (62%), and the highest undecided numbers (21%) compared to their rivals.

Liberals and PCs tied on Infrastructure

Almost 3-in-10 (29%) say the Liberals, if elected, would be best for building infrastructure, tied with the Progressive Conservatives (29%). Fewer than 2-in-10 (15%) say the NDP would be best for healthcare. Almost a third (28%) say they are unsure.

Worth noting is that NDP supporters report the lowest confidence in their party to be best for building infrastructure (44%), and the highest undecided numbers (28%) compared to their rivals.

NDP seen as best for education

Almost a third (31%) say the NDP, if elected, will be best for education. A quarter (25%) say the Progressive Conservatives would be best for education, with the Liberals virtually tied at (23%). Just over 2-in-10 say they are unsure.

More than 1-in-10 of both, Liberal (15%) and Conservative (15%) supporters report that the NDP will be best of education if elected.

"The NDP should be especially pleased it’s seen to be the best on education, the environment, and tied for the best on healthcare.
