Unimpressed With Carbon Pricing
Two-thirds say they are aware of the carbon pricing plan
Toronto, January
11th—In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™
among 1226 Canadians 18 years of age or older, two thirds (TOP2: 65%)
say they are aware of the Federal Government’s carbon pricing plan, with a
quarter (26%) saying they are very aware.
About a third (BTM2: 35%) say they are not
aware, with about one-fifth (19%) saying they aren’t aware of the plan at all.

4 in 10 (43%) say
they disapprove of the Federal Government’s pricing plan.
About one-quarter
(28%) say they approve, while a similar proportion says they do not know.
Amongst those that
say they are aware of the plan (TOP2) there is a larger disparity: a third
(34%) say they approve, but half (53%) say they disapprove.
Call it a Carbon Tax and little changes
Two thirds (TOP2:
67%) say they aware of the Federal Government’s proposed carbon tax, with a
quarter (28%) saying they are very aware.
About one-third
(BTM2: 33%) say they are not aware, with about one-sixth (17%) saying they are
not aware at all.
4 in 10 (45%) say
they disapprove of the proposed carbon tax, with a quarter (28%) saying they
approve, and a quarter (28%) saying they do not know.
Amongst those that
say they are aware (TOP2) of proposed carbon tax, a third (31%) say they
approve and half (54%) say they disapprove.
“No matter what it
seems to be called, Canadians are skeptical of the Feds’ carbon pricing plan,”

informed on the issue and it appears they’re not keen on the current approach.”
