Split on Justin Trudeau's Private Helicopter Ride
Toronto, January 22nd
– In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among
1,332 Canadian voters, opinion on whether or not it was appropriate for the
Prime Minister to accept a ride aboard a private helicopter was divided (41%
appropriate, 42% inappropriate). The remainder (17%) responded that they didn't
know whether or not it was appropriate.
Liberal voters responded
more positively, with (55%) saying it was appropriate, while only (27%) of
Conservative voters felt the same way. Accepting the flight is more likely to
be seen as appropriate by those aged 34 or younger (48%), in the Atlantic
region (53%), in BC (47%), and those with post graduate degrees (48%).
The opposite view is
likely to be held by the older demographic (45-54: 46%, 55-64: 48%, and 65+:
47%), males (47%), in the Prairies (54%), in Alberta (53%), and those with
secondary school education or less (46%).
"Canadians are
divided on whether Justin Trudeau's helicopter flight was appropriate. Besides
the expected divide among party lines, the sentiment differs by age. It appears
that the younger Canadians are less likely to raise issue with the Prime
Minister’s vacation activities," said Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne
