A Third of Toronto
Voters More Likely to Vote Liberal if Wynne Resigns
Only seven percent of Liberals say her resignation would make
them less likely to vote Liberal
Toronto, April 6th
– In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 840
Toronto voters, (33%) say they would be more likely to vote Liberal in the next
provincial election if Kathleen Wynne resigned as leader of the Ontario Liberal
Party. Only (10%) say her resignation would make them less likely to vote
Liberal.
The plurality, (44%)
say her resignation wouldn’t make them more likely or less likely to vote
Liberal in 2018.
Respondents most
likely to say they would be more likely to vote Liberal if Kathleen Wynne
resigned include those 34 and younger (39%) or 35-44 (37%), earning
$60,000-$80,000 (39%), and the least educated (38%).
(39%) of those
supporting the Liberal Party say they would be more likely to vote Liberal if
Wynne resigned as leader.
Respondents most
likely to say her resignation will make them less likely to vote Liberal
include those aged 65+ (14%) and Progressive Conservative supporters (13%).
Only (7%) of
Liberals say Kathleen Wynne’s resignation will make them less likely to vote
Liberal.
“A third of Toronto
voters say they would be more likely to vote Liberal with a different leader;
that’s potentially enough to swing seats. More troubling for Wynne, though, may
be that only seven percent of Liberals would be less likely to vote Liberal if
she resigned, and almost four-in-ten Liberals say they would be more likely to
vote Liberal if she resigned,” said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, President of Forum
