Conservative Lead Unchanged

Would win a minority if an election were held today

Toronto, March 21st – In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Pollamong 1490 Canadian voters, amongst those decided and leaning, 4 in 10 (41%) say they would support the Conservatives, and a third (35%) say they would support the Liberals.

One-sixth (14%) say they would support the NDP.

Respondents most likely to say they would support the Conservatives include those aged 35-44 (45%), 45-54 (42%), or 55-64 (42%), males (50%), earning $40,000-$60,000 (45%) or $80,000-$100,000 (43%), the least educated (45%), with some college/university (42%) or a college/university degree (44%), and living in Alberta (70%).

Respondents most likely to say they would support the Liberals include those aged 65+ (43%), females (38%), the most wealthy (43%), with a post-graduate degree (47%), and living in Québec (54%).

“None of the events in the past month have shifted the needle on the Federal horserace, with the Conservatives maintaining their lead over the Liberals,” said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, President of Forum Research. “What may give the Liberals some modest hope, however, is that despite their current troubles, that lead hasn’t gotten bigger.”
