Joe Oliver slips behind in Eglinton-Lawrence

Marco Mendicino, Liberal, takes the lead

TORONTO September 22nd, 2015 - In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 634 voters in the federal riding of Eglinton-Lawrence, well more than 4-in-10 will vote for the Liberal standard-bearer, Marco Mendicino (44%), compared to fewer than 4-in-10 who will vote the incumbent, erstwhile Conservative Minister of Finance, Joe Oliver (38%). Star NDP candidate Andrew Thompson attracts less than a fifth of the vote (17%). The Greens, who have yet to nominate a candidate, are not competitive (2%).In the beginning of August, the vote was reversed and Oliver had slightly more than 4-in-10 (August 6 - 41%), while Mendicino had about one third of the vote (34%).

“Eglinton-Lawrence has been a Liberal riding for decades, back to the 70s, and it looks as if, in the wake of the 2011 upset which elected Joe Oliver, it may be returning to its default setting," said Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne Bozinoff.
