Majority
agree Forcillo received fair trial
Very few disagree
TORONTO January
20th - In
a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 546 Toronto adults,
the majority believe Constable James Forcillo has received a fair trial in the
shooting death of Sammy Yatim (57%). Just one seventh disagree (15%), and this
is common among boomers (55 to 64 - 22%), Doug Ford voters (21%), those who
trust the police (21%), and among those who disapprove of charging Forcillo
with murder (43%).
“It is among Forcillo’s supporters that the belief he hasn’t
received a fair trial is strongest, and also among those who trust police in
general. There is a culture of loyalty at work here among those who uphold the
law and those who support them,” said Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne
Bozinoff.
