In the federal riding of Whitby-Oshawa, where a by-election will be held on November 17th, the Conservative candidate, Pat Perkins, has more than 4-in-10 votes (41%) to about one third for her Liberal counterpart, Celina Caesar-Chavannes (32%). The NDP candidate would be supported by 15%.

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 1096 Ottawa voters, more than 4-in-10 will vote for incumbent mayor Jim Watson (44%), compared to fewer than half this proportion who will vote for his nearest contender, Mike Maguire (17%).

Exactly equal proportions, 4-in-10, will vote for Brian Gallant's Liberals or David Alward's Progressive Conservatives (40% each). This stands in contrast to last week, when the Liberals held a healthy lead (September 11, Liberals - 42%, Progressive Conservatives - 32%).

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 1581 Canadians 18 years of age and older, Australia posted the highest favourable score (86%) and an extremely high net favourable score (favourable minus unfavourable) of +78 when respondents were presented with a list of 10 OECD countries.
