Eisenberger with mayoral lead in Hamilton

Just more than one quarter will vote for Fred Eisenberger for mayor in the upcoming municipal election (26%), compared to a sixth who will vote for Brad Clark (17%). Eisenberger has twice the support of Brian McHattie (12%) or any other candidates (11%).

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 1096 Ottawa voters, more than 4-in-10 will vote for incumbent mayor Jim Watson (44%), compared to fewer than half this proportion who will vote for his nearest contender, Mike Maguire (17%).

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 1581 Canadians 18 years of age and older, Australia posted the highest favourable score (86%) and an extremely high net favourable score (favourable minus unfavourable) of +78 when respondents were presented with a list of 10 OECD countries.

Majority of Canadians oppose Scottish independence

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll among 1541 Canadians 18 years of age and older, one fifth (21%) claimed to come from a Scottish background. More than one half of Canadians (58%) do not favour Scottish independence.

Liberal lead tightens in New Brunswick

In a random sampling of public opinion taken by the Forum Poll™ among 732 New Brunswick voters 11 days before the September 22 provincial election, just more than 4-in-10 will vote Liberal (42%), compared to about a third who will vote Progressive Conservative (32%), for a 10 point lead in favour of the Liberals.

Liberal lead tightens further

4-in-10 will vote for the Liberals if the election were held today (40%), stable from the same proportion who said this last month (August 20 - 41%). The Conservatives attract the vote of one third (34%) and this is a very slight increase from last month (32%).

Majority approve of Iraq deployment

The majority (54%) approve of Prime Minister Harper's decision to send about 100 Canadian troops to Iraq to act as advisors in the conflict with ISIS. Four-in-ten disapprove (40%) and few don't have an opinion (7%).
